Nature & the Body
Beyond Yoga
The mind wants continuity, progress, productivity and certainty, while the body speaks in cycles, participating rather than philosophising, living in and with the soil of things.
Our bodies understand change without needing to make sense of it, without clinging or desiring. In winter it understands rest, and in spring it knows how to rise. Summer brings the fullness of flower and fruit, ripening the crop as it delivers its abundance, before autumn brings the scythe and the harvest that prepares us for the fallow ahead.
While the mind is easily seduced by the glitter of the outer world, the body remains natively close to the seasonal order, an order that, when followed, returns us to our mother tongue, the same one spoken by trees, oceans and winds.

An Embodied Winter Yoga & Breathwork Practice
“This knowledge of the cycles is deep within us. It’s only really been the last few hundred years, the last two or three generations, in which we lost the thread of that.”
Beginning at the feet and following the Water channels upward through the body, this winter practice moves between strength and yielding, repetition and flow, before settling into breathwork and stillness.
It is an exploration of the body as keeper of an older intelligence, one shaped by seasons, tides and generations of relationship with the living world.
Our bodies carry the memories of rhythm, cycle and change, shaped by the same forces that move through all of nature. Yoga and breathwork offer a way to return to that intelligence through direct experience as we practise listening and learning from the inside out.
The Seasons in Practice
Yoga and Breathwork practices are an accessible way of embodying the season. Across the Five Elements, each season asks something different of us: to rise, expand, gather, release or return to stillness. Join me in a practice selection of seasonal vignettes.
